How MakeMyTrip.com Ruined (Nearly) My Trip

I had booked 3 nights/4 days stay (Check-in: 24th/Check-out: 27th) at Wind Flower Spa and Resort, Mysore through MakeMyTrip.com on December 15th 2010. I immediately got a confirmation email/booking voucher from them stating that my booking is confirmed and I need not re-confirm the booking by calling the hotel.


We (I, my wife and my son) left Mangalore at 7am and reached Mysore at around 2.30pm (around 300 Kms). As soon as we entered the resort, we were very impressed with it. My son was too ecstatic and I was happy for him. However, all this euphoria was short lived. When I presented the booking voucher to the receptionist, she told there was no booking in my name through Make My Trip.com. I just cannot describe how I felt at moment. I felt like an Idiot. My wife chided at me for not confirming the booking, for which I told that it’s clearly written on the booking voucher that I need not confirm the booking by calling the hotel. My son was just too happy playing around totally unaware of all this. I just couldn’t figure how to break this news to him that we will not be staying in that resort.

When I talked to the resort manager regarding what could be done, he told me that this is the 10th such case in this week. All my hopes went down the drain then. Being holiday season, the resort was running full and my only option was to call them back and request a refund. That’s OK, but then where to go now? Being a holiday season, chances of getting a room in a good resort/hotel was pretty bleak and if at all I would get one, the rates would be sky high. The hotel manager was a nice guy and may be pitying me, he suggested a newly opened similar resort (Silent Shores) where I could get a room. GREAT I thought! He immediately called the resort and found I could get a Suite. I figured it wouldn’t be less that Rs. 10,000 a day but at that moment, I just wanted to keep my family happy. I just didn’t want to take them back.

Now getting the refund back and the blasting part. I called the MakeMyTrip.com call center, entered my booking ID, and kept waiting for more than 5 minutes. Nobody took my call. I called again. Still no reply. The manager told me that they will not take my call and I write directly to them. Again I felt like an Idiot. I then called them again and choose the “New booking” option. I got through them and blasted them for making me go through this and asked for a refund.

The manager later talked to the person in charge of taking reservations from Make My Trip for their resort and told me that Make My Trip guys had called in at 12.00 noon today to confirm my reservation! Can you believe it? I book the rooms on Dec 15 and they call the hotel on the day of my check-in to confirm the booking!

Later in the evening, I checked mouthshut.com and was surprised to find that I was not the only one to have gone through such an ordeal. There were hundreds others with similar experiences. And this was making no difference to them, simply because the reviews were not showing up in the search results. That’s when I decided to create a dedicated website documenting my experience and allowing others to share theirs so nobody will have to go through the horrifying ordeal I and others have been through.

What really irked me most was the totally cool attitude of Make My Trip.com. It’s like this is no big deal at all – “We are really sorry and you’ll get a refund within 7 days”. That’s it! What about the ordeal we have been through? Travel 300 kms with family and make a fool of yourself! Can money compensate for it? This is not pardonable at any cost.

I sincerely request you that if you have been through a similar experience with MakeMyTrip.com, please share your experience. Please refrain from using defamatory words and try to include as much proof (booking ID, etc.) as possible.

Regarding the Silent Shores resort, it was very good and I thank god for keeping the Suite for me. Everything happens for good!

Why it makes sense to book your stay by calling the hotel directly

Here’s how travel sites work… When you book a hotel through a travel site, a copy of the voucher (not payment) is sent to the hotel. Depending on the relationship and reputation of the travel site in remitting payments to the hotel, the hotel people then may decide whether to confirm the reservation or keep it pending till they receive the payment. If the travel site repeatedly delays making payment to the hotel, then the hotel people may not make the reservation at all until they receive the payment. It may take anywhere from 2-3 days or never (like in my case) for the travel site to transfer the payment to the hotel. And then, only if rooms are available, your reservation is confirmed, else you’ll be refunded. So in reality you are basically trying your luck.

This entire process may take anywhere from 2-7 days. If it’s a peak season, and you don’t get a room through the travel site (and you are lucky enough to know it before you reach your destination), you must have already lost several days and until then room rents must have already hiked by then.

However, if you contact the hotel directly, not only your booking will be confirmed immediately, you also stand a high chance of getting a more discounted rate than what you see on the travel site, if you negotiate a bit. Think about this, for every booking through the travel site, the hotel has to give some commission to the travel site. Now if they could bypass the middleman, don’t you think they won’t or shouldn’t have any problems in giving back the same commission as discount to the customer?

So it makes lot of sense to use travel sites to read reviews and check fares, but make the booking by calling the hotel directly. If there’s no contact info of the hotel available on the travel site listings, just put the name and location of the hotel in Google and in majority of the cases, you’ll stumble upon their official website.

    This was the first time i used make my trip services and it was a special occasion in my life My First marriage anniversary.

    I booked Mystic Valley Spa resort in karjat from Make my trip. And since Make my trip is the leader in the industry and at the same time your confrimation mail said that no need to call Make my trip or hotel to re confirm your booking i did not call the hotel. But after leaving mumbai when i called hotel for directions they told me that there is no booking and i was in a state of horror. However that was just the start of my horror story.

    After that this is what has happened.

    A) At 11.17 i gave first call to Make my trip to register the issue ur CS tells me to hold and disconnected the line after i hold the line for 5 minutyes

    B) 11.25 I immediately called back and got thru some one called Shreyas shah was assured a resolution in 15 minutes.

    C) I parked the Car on highway since i had no where to go, After 20 minutes at around 11.42 i called again and he told me to wait for 5 minutes and he will resolve the complaint.

    D) at 12.02 i again called and got thru shreyas he said we are working on it and cut the line and while he cut the line i am still standiong isolated on the highway.

    E) 12.39 I again called him and he connected me to someone called devendra and he said we will resolve in 15 minutes and tell u.

    F) At 12.53 i called ur cs again and again no response they asked me to wait for more 15 minutes.

    G) At 1PM i called again and was connected to some one called pinky but by this time i had given up both on resort and make my trip and asked for a refund.

    Please note

    A) I wasted my special day because of u guys

    B) I wasted petrol worth 2500/-

    C) I was isoltaed on a highway because of u guys

    D) I was mentally spiked by your customer care team.

    I want an apology from Make my trip and a suitable compensation and if i don’t get a satisfactory reply in next 48 hours then i will be forced to take this matter to outside parties include social media and Offline media. because what you guys have done today is not something pardonable and post this i will make sure that any of your customers don’t receive this kind of treatment.

    I approached MakeMytrip on Jan 21 2013 to book a resort for 2nights/3days package starting on 25 Jan to 27 Jan. I confirmed my choice for a 5 star resort called Amanvana near Madikeri. I made the booking on phone with the customer care agent. after payment I got the confirmation and received the Hotel Voucher as well which mentions, “Kindly note, your booking is CONFIRMED and you are not required to contact the hotel or MakeMyTrip.com to reconfirm the same.”

    The next day i recieved a call from MMT saying that the hotel is sold out on saturday hence cant confirmed the booking. I was told that an alternate arrangement was being made and I will be informed soon. Days were passing and I was calling them morning and evening without any proper response. Only answer I would hear is, “The team is working on it.”. This was crap. I made almost 8 calls in 3 days. Fed up with the attitude called up the resort and was shocked to hear that they had suggested an alternate stay but the MMT executive informed them that issue was resolved. I tried to escalate the issue but the response was pathetic. Was checking online for reviews about the service by MMT. I saw that I was’nt the only one who was being taken for a ride. My travel plans were being screwed up and there were others who faced lot worse situations that me.

    I had to start on the early morning of Jan 25 and till 24th after my issue was not resolved. My money almost 20K was blocked. It was only at 7PM of 24th Jan I got a confirmation about my stay at an alternate resort. It was like a take it or leave it situation. I was promised that the difference amount will be transfered back to my credit card which has’nt happened till now.

    Lessons learnt:

    - Always call up the Hotel and confirm if your booking is done
    - We read the reviews of the Hotel/Resorts but not the reviews of the travel sites that handle our reservations. Need to check this as well.

    We booked our International 7days/6nights holiday package for honeymoon to Mauritius through Makemytrip with booking ID: IN1211B12988.
    1. Confirmation voucher issued by make my trip was not accepted by hotel. They needed ‘Hotel Voucher’ and not just confirmation. We were made to sit and wait for 4-5 hours at reception after having a full night tiring flight than having a room.
    2. After lot of struggle having secured a room at hotel what we got was a room stinking of dampness like a fishstall. No comforter/quilt/blanket was provided in the room even after complaining at reception several times. We spent 6 hr shivering in the room.
    3. No room service at all, no one even picked calls at reception or public relations dept. The room lacked cleanliness and basic amenities like water, quilt, towels, and toiletries.
    4. Hotel manager Swapna was very rude to the situation and in place of being helpful, she was misbehaving with guests. We saw lots of people angry, annoyed and complaining about similar situations.
    4. After continuous mails with make my trip advisor, nothing was done.
    5. They did change our room after lots of complaining. Having expected that our problems will end here, we were put in a room having fused bulbs, plenty of mosquitos, and lizards walking on dressing table and walls
    6. No water supply at all from night 11-morning 6 am and 2 pm to 6 pm even in the toilets or washroom
    7. There was no hot water in shower.
    8. No room cleaning in all 7-8 days (only bed sheet was set all days)
    9. For honeymooners hotel could not even provide a double bed, two single bed and single matresses were joined to make to double bed.
    10. Single menu was followed in restaurant for all 7days /6 nights. It was hard to find a clean table to sit for dinner or breakfast. Hotel severely lacked staffs.
    11. Only one vegetarian/Indian dish was available all days with some plain Paratha in breakfast/lunch /dinner. It was a hard life for vegetarian like us.
    12. Stale and previous day’s leftover food was served in breakfast.
    13. Had to wait for 3-4 hours for just having a bath towel at reception.
    14. There was no internet or proper working TV in the room. So called Wi-Fi available at lobby was barely working as there were too many people flocking for the net which was available at only one place.
    15 While booking trip, we were being promised the following freebies as part of honeymoon package by Make my trip-
    a) ROOM Decoration+ Sparkling wine, water activities (complimentary boating, snorkeling etc. provided by hotel)
    b) Complimentary body spa for the couple
    c) 3 days full day tour with travel (north, south, island)
    d) Candle light dinner
    e) Wedding gift at checkout for honeymooners.
    However this all promises were misleading. We didn’t receive any of these services. We got to know that some of the couples booked from other tour agencies received these complimentary services.
    16. MakeMyTrip supplier for our tour was AKQUASun in Mauritius. These people were bunch of goons and liars. Their full day tours was just half day and it was total disgusting, disappointing and full of mental torture
    17. Representatives at AKQUASun happen to be the worst host and guide one can ever had-Unprofessional, inflexible and unethical people. They didn’t have any willingness to understand customers’ needs. Indeed we were being openly told on our face that our work is to get you guys here by hook or by crook. Their ethics: It’s all valid to woo customers in name of fake promises for complimentary services and tour packages.
    18. One of the examples of them being inflexible is that they make us leave one of tours uncompleted and return to their coach in heavy rain as they had to leave. We all got drenched in rain some of us got caught with fever and cold.
    19. South tour and north tour was bogus as they took all clients to shopping where they can earn commission wasting our two days of time in Mauritius. Highly disappointed by these tours, we planned our own local tours to see natural beauty of Mauritius, of course by selling more money after spending so much on buying these packages.
    20. Complaining to AKQUASun MD hardly made a difference. They openly told that it’s my mistake to choose them or Makemytrip or the Indian Resort and they can’t do anything about it. I should talk to my travel agency. Which I did somehow in barely working internet for getting no respite for my problems.

    In nut shell, Makemytrip could have done a lot (as Yatra did for other couple) to solve not all but some of the problems. I was looking forward for the best experience for my honeymoon trip however I spent most of the time asking for bare minimum services (which anyone expects) or complaining for it. It really ruined our honeymoon and I feel sorry for my wife and myself. After having spent so much money, all we got is mental torture. MakemyTrip can’t ever payback for my honeymoon

    I have booked a flight thru Makemytrip (MMT), booking ID: NF2513820903654. At airport, at the boarding counter I was shocked to hear that my flight booking has been cancelled by MMT.
    I called MMT, the agent said, my ticket is valid, and he had no clue about the cancellation. I asked for the fresh ticket print and it did not mention about cancellation. However airline firmly told that the booking is cancelled. I was embarrassed, had to miss the flight as well as my subsequent business commitments broke down. The agent from MMT promised me to investigate the matter and assured that I would be paid for the new ticket cost. I bought new ticket of the next available flight at much higher cost.
    Post my travel I lodged complaint with MMT, however what I was told after 15 days was horrible.
    1. They totally disowned the responsibility of the issue, despite the fact that I booked through them and paid them well over a month in advance.
    2. They charged me for cancellation, airline and MMT fee; forget the re-imbursement, causing me financial loss.
    3. The horrible thing was, under the name of investigation, they shared an IP and told me that booking was cancelled thru this IP address from somewhere in Mumbai by going on airline website. And since its done from the airline, MMT is not responsible for it. In short, it looks like the transactions from MMT are not safe, and anyone can cancel your journey tickets anytime causing you big loss. Or it could be a hand in glove operations by airline and MMT , as the said flight was delayed / cancelled on that day, possibly because the lack of ticket sale. So beware and think before you buy ticket from MMT.
    4. However after 10 days post travel date, I received the SMS for ticket cancellation, which looked like triggered due to someone changing the data from their system. So somewhere, either Airline or MMT is playing with the data, causing passengers loss.
    5. It means if you buy ticket through MMT, you are not guaranteed the seat. As airline may cancel your ticket anytime and you will never know.
    6. The worst part is MMT would not take the responsibility of such issues and would leave you in soup.
    Financial Loss = 3200 (Original ticket cost) + 6450 (New ticket cost) + 10000 (Loss of business due to cancellation)
    Total = 19650 Rs.
    + Embarrassment + Mental harassment + Loss of Trust.

    A very bad experience of dealing with very unprofessional individuals especially Mr. Rajesh Naga, supervisor for the Indian department of bookings at MakeMyTrip. Most unprofessional and misleading. I have detailed my experience below. Because of this, I intend to take my business elsewhere and in my opinion other people should as well.

    My case: I made a booking which I thought I made for the 6th of December, the ticket gets booked for the 3rd and I tried to change it by calling the helpline within 5 minutes of getting the confirmation. I had not even received the e-ticket by then.

    I got transferred to the Indian department via the US number.Talked to an unknown person for 40 mins. He hung up on me after talking in hindi to his colleagues about how he was not able to resolve the situation after putting me on hold on the pretext of checking logs. He did not even have the courtesy to put me on hold for the duration that he was conversing to his colleagues about me. The call ended abruptly.

    The next person gave his name as Arnab with extension 9551 . Had the same conversation for half an hour. He told me he would transfer my call to his superior who could help me out with this. this person also asked me to go ahead and directly cancel the transaction with my bank to which I told him that my representative asked me to first check with makemytrip.

    The next person introduced himself as Rajesh Naga and as being the supervisor. He also proceeded to tell me the same thing to cancel the entire booking and that they would manage the cancellation on their end .He was about to tell me further about this complete cancellation when the phone call got interrupted for the 4th time.Tried to reconnect with the given extension and it turned out to be incorrect.

    Called the US department again and got connected to the Indian department and spoke to a lady regarding my situation and requested her to transfer my call to the supervisor I talked to before, Rajesh Naga. Got connected to a lady in the Indian booking department,Ms. Sonia. Rajesh Naga was busy on another call and asked her to tell me that I would have to wait 24 hrs after which they would call me back and they would decide whether to refund.

    This lady assured me that my new booking was confirmed and that it depended on them checking logs and getting back to me about how much I would get refunded. At this point of time, I did not care for the refund, just the new ticket reservation.She also asks me to wait for 3 days for it to go through and for me to get a confirmation.

    Four days later, I call again only to find out from Miss Anjali Ext 9569 that there was no booking done. After a lot of time, she transfers the call to Mr. Rajesh Naga who tells me that I would have to pay for the fare difference for the ticket between the time Ms Sonia told me she booked the tickets and this day. I tell him strongly that this is completely unfair , that I don’t care about the refund but that when they have said they booked my tickets already, I should not be made to pay the fare difference as well. Mr. Rajesh Naga hangs up again.

    I believe that MakeMyTrip has been wilfully misleading in this case. I have learnt my lesson not to deal with this company again. I hope strict action will be taken against the personnel involved.

    I booked my thailand vacation online with you travel agent (live chat )jaineet shah , on 6 nov 2012 and made the payment everything .. I got my receipt for payment, after that I never received my itenary, i called soo many times to travel agent and also make my trip no one helped me .. make my trip kept saying jaineet will call within 24 hrs but he never called .. i also booked my tickets from bdq to bom .. as my vacation was from bom .. i called 13th nov again to jaineet he said tht vacation prices gone up .. he charged me on 6nov but never booked .. i kept thinking i had a booking but he never made me one .. im very upset will never book with makemy trip again .. and will never recommend this to anyone .. i will post this comment on all website .. possible .. jaineet shouldnt be in make mytrip .. he didnt answer my calls and spoiled my whole vacation .. very very bad experices and services and i also emailed him my passport details 3 to 4 times .. he kept making excuses he never received them .. im canadian citizen i went to india after 5 years and this is what i had to go thought .. he spoiled my trip ..

    I have never booked complete package (hotel ) through makemytrip.com
    however, I do book air tickets.
    My experience is similar w.r.t confirmation with the actual airline.
    I do get my details confirmed immediately with the actual airlines, however when things go wrong ( cancelled, rescheduled ) the experience is very bad.

    I just keep make my trip aside and directly follow up with the airlines.
    Also, when we book through makemytrip, for some airlines, we miss out some features
    such as manage my ticket, online checkin etc ..

    Hi,

    My experience was not this bad but could have been easily worse. If you do not want to read all the crap below please take this advice – MMT’s Hotel + Flight option is really cheap but avoid last-minute bookings. Also, after booking confirm with the Hotel the same day you make the booking through MMT. Don’t go by what their voucher says.

    I had booked for Flight + Hotel combo through MMT in Delhi as I planned to go to watch live F1 action and stayed in Delhi for 3 nights 26th to 29th – I had done this booking for 3 people but in 2 separate orders. My first booking was on 11th afternoon and I received the voucher saying “you are not required to contact the hotel or MakeMyTrip.com to reconfirm the same”. But after reading this site I checked the same evening with the hotel and MMT had indeed informed them of my booking. Good till this point. The following day I booked with the same hotel for my wife and did not bother to check. The day before my departure, on 25th, I decided to check with the hotel and found that the 2nd booking in my wife’s name was not done and was told by hotel staff that no room was free. It was a shocker but I called MMT by providing last 4 digits of booking ID, call was connected within 2-3 minutes and complaint was placed – was told that I would get a booking confirmation call within 4 hours in the same hotel or in an alternative location. At this point my trip was in a kind of freefall as I have never been to Delhi before and I did not know fluent Hindi and could not take the risk of staying in a different hotel. I waited for near 5 hours and did not get a call, so I called MMT again to confirm and the lady told me that the 2nd room was allocated in the same hotel. So thankfully it all ended well and here I am back from Delhi and writing this. Book with ample time and confirm your booking.

    I had no issues with the airlines ticket which was in spicejet.

    Here is the feedback I had sent to them. I am copy pasting it here. I wished I had read this site before I did the booking.

    Booking ID: IN1205B09947
    Trip date: June 4 to June 8
    Package name: Spellbinding Kashmir
    Booked by: Pranav Wahi of Makemytrip.

    Day 0: (June 3rd, day before the trip)
    I checked my tickets and hotel bookings. The trip was for 4 nights,
    the first and 4th night stays were to be in Srinagar, 2nd night in
    Pahalgam and 3rd night in Gulmarg. The flight back was from Srinagar
    on the last day.
    But the hotel bookings were done wrongly such that the first 2 nights
    were in Srinagar, 3rd in Pahalgam and 4th in Gulmarg.
    I called up Pranav and Rajinder to get it fixed. He said he will speak
    with the cab driver and the schedule will be adjusted to the hotel
    bookings. I told him that it would be okay *ONLY IF* he speaks with
    the cab driver and got things fixed.

    Day 1: June 4 in Srinagar
    We reached Srinagar. But the cab driver was still having the wrong
    schedule. He said he had no information from makemytrip about the
    change of schedule. I had to call up multiple people to get the new
    schedule to the driver.
    Also, my flight on last day (June 8) was from Srinagar at 7.30 AM and
    my last night hotel booking was wrongly done in GUlmarg. I learnt from
    people there that it would be impossible to get to the flight from
    Gulmarg. If we were to get there, we will have to drive at 3AM from
    Gulmarg to the airport.
    I called up makemytrip. I spoke to Pranav first and asked him to
    change my last night stay to Srinagar. He said he will call back in
    one hour. But never had a call from him after waiting for hours. I
    called up makemytrip again. Getting a connection itself took lot of
    time. Then Pranav was not available and I had to speak to another
    person (Virendar), tell him the whole story again. He also said that he will call
    back in an hour and he never called back.
    My entire first day was wasted trying to contact these guys.

    Day 2: June 5 in Srinagar
    Never got any contact from makemytrip again. I tried calling Pranav’s
    mobile multiple times. He never picked up. Some times he just cut my
    call.
    Then I tried calling makemytrip office. Pranav and Rajinder were not
    available. I spoke to their supervisor (Virendar). Again I had to tell him the entire story, he gave me
    the same assurance that he will make arrangements and call me back.
    Then he also went missing.
    Again I tried contacting makemytrip office. Getting a line itself was
    difficult. Sometimes I get connected, but they just put me on hold for
    10-15mins.
    After about 2 hours of trying, I was able to connect to Rajinder, who
    again gave the same story of making arrangements and calling back.

    I had to spend about 4 hours throughout the day while on trip just
    trying to get things fixed and no one seemed to care about the
    seriousness of the problem. I was going to be without a place to stay
    for the last night at Srinagar.

    Day 3: June 6 in Pahalgam
    I decided not to call back makemytrip, because it was going to be the
    same old story. So we just visited around Pahalgam. This was the only
    day of the trip where I actually visisted some places.
    I never got a call from makemytrip.

    Day 4: June 7 in Srinagar
    According to the modified itenary, I was supposed to do siteseeing in
    Gulmarg on this day.
    But because I could not stay overnight in Gulmarg and had no place to
    stay in Srinagar either, I decided not to go to Gulmarg and instead go
    to Srinagar and find a place to stay.
    We reached Srinagar and had to go to lot of hotels looking for a room.
    Finally we found a room and I had to spend 2000 rupees out of my own
    pocket for the same.
    No sightseeing on this day too.

    Day 5: June 8 Srinagar to Bangalore
    Managed to get to the flight in time. I was happy that the horrible
    trip was finally over.

    It was the worst possible honeymoon trip anyone could have. Completely
    ruined by the careless attitude of your guys.
    It looks like you guys think your job is over as soon as you have
    collected the money from us.
    I cannot believe I paid 40000 rupees to you guys on this trip.
    In reality, only day 3 was the day that actually felt like a holiday.
    In all other days I was stuck there trying to fix the mistakes you
    guys made and you guys had absolutely care about it.

    I spoke to Virendar on this last week. He apologized and he would call
    back with a compensation. Then again he went missing. Same old story.

    I chose makemytrip over other travel agents because I expected that
    you guys would be more professional and will take care of all things
    ahead of time.
    But I came to know after my experience that you guys have absolute
    zero professionalism. You dont care about what is happening to the
    travellers on the trip. You dont care if we are stuck without a place
    to stay.
    It feels like makemytrip is about just paying too much money for nothing.

    I had paid 40000 to makemytrip and 2000 for the hotel booking that I did myself.
    The actual worth of the trip is nothing more that 5000 rupees.

    After all this I spoke with Vipin Adhikari who got me the refund of 2000 rupees for the last day stay that I had paid out of my pocket.

    I wanted more refund because I had paid for a trip to Gulmarg as well. But I was never able to go to Gulmarg because of the bad planning.

    I was not able to get Vipin Adhikari on line again. So I spoke with Virendar 3 or 4 times. Every time he kept telling that he will check and get back in 2 days. But he never called back.

    A week after this Virendar stopped attending my call. Someone would pick the phone and when I ask them to transfer the call to Virendar, they would just cut the line or they would keep me waiting for a long time on phone with no one answering the call. Once I could hear Virendar speaking with someone thinking that they had already cut off my call.

    First of all i must tell you due to your very bad services my holiday was

    Faced several issues due to your bad services

    1) First of all we must tell you when i reached the hotel, the hotel
    representative Mr. Baharat told us that there is no confirmation of our
    booking from your end. Then we made several calls to your customer
    services, after that we were allowed to stay there which was quite
    annoying for us face such kind of problems where as we had already booked
    our room on 22nd of june.

    2) At the time of booking we had clearly advised your representative
    Miss Ragini Srivastava that we require an ac room with in the budget of
    Rs2000-2500 per day. She advised us 2 to 3 hotels in the same budget for
    ac rooms. We liked Hotel Bharat. And so proceeded accordingly with the
    booking.

    If AC was not there then your representative must have told us at the time
    of booking that in your budget AC room is not available. Then we were to
    deciede what to do…but how can she make us fool by saying that Hotel
    Bharat is one of the hotel that is providing us AC room with in our budget.

    And here in this case only AC was not the issue… the room was in such a
    bad condition that no one can live on there for a second …what to say
    about staying there for 2 days….. You cant imagine how we stay in this
    hotel for two days
    4) We did not found the room condition actually the same that you had
    displayed on your website.The room was in very bad condition. It was
    stinking badly. Bedsheets, pillow , pillow covers were so dirty full of
    stains, all over the room fungus was there. All around bed spider web was
    there. IN SHORT ROOM WAS NOT IN ANY CONDITION THAT A HUMAN BAING CAN
    SURVIVE THERE FOR AN HOUR SO I HOPE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND HOW CAN ANYONE BE
    ABLE TO STAY THERE FOR 2 DAYS!!! (ATTACHED ARE THE PICTURES OF ROOM FOR

    I have booked the room for the above mentioned resort by referring the MAKE MY TRIP with the belief that whatever the facilities or services mentioned in MMT website will be available at the time of check in into the resorts.

    But MMT or Green Rock resort, Kodaikanal failed provide the committed or mentioned services in the MMT website. Also I have shared the Green Rock resort, kodaikanal photos through picasa to MAKE MY TRIP. But MAKE MY TRIP is not all responding to my repeated calls & repeated mails.And vey soon I will be approaching the Consumer Redressal Forum against MAKE MY TRIP for refund & compensation.

    Please find the below concerns/complaints for the same and also I can prove the below complaints with evidence or proofs.

    1) After check in into the Green Rock resort, Room was filled with Birds waste/shit.
    2) When i tried to switch on the electric button in the Green Rock Resort’s room in kodaikanal, i got electric shock.
    3) MMT website promised for bath tub in the bath room for Royal suite and Super Deluxe room but i have NOT seen any bath tub in the bath room.
    4) MMT website promised for cable TV but i have NOT seen any cable TV except empty TV .
    5) Entrance door of the room was patched with news papers and next to the entrance door, under garments were hanged.
    6) Entrance door of the room was filled with cigarettes buts and tobacco/guthka was splitted room walls.
    7) Reception at Resort was partially utilized for vehicle parking as well as store room.
    8) And also rooms, bath room and reception of the resort were not clean.

    I paid online for a hotel in India.. the hotel was fine, the staff were friendly but there was no confirmation that I actually PAID the hotel. The website has the option (which is convenient) of paying either prior or upon arrival. I chose to pay prior with my credit card, the amount was deducted, the hotel was well aware of my arrival so no problems there. The ONLY problem I have with this company is that they do not provide confirmation that you have paid in full! Just a voucher that says ‘Grand total = $xxx.xxx’. Doesn’t show amount paid, amount outstanding, method of payment or any confirmation. The hotel received no confirmation that I had already paid so they were dubious but ever so kind. They are calling the website now to receive some kind of confirmation from them that it is paid.

    The company MUST issue a tax invoice!!!! Show that it has been paid. A voucher that says ‘grand total = $xxx’ means nothing!! No confirmation in the fine print, no actual proof that I paid. This is my only issue with the website, other than that – their site is quite nice to navigate and the booking problem I read above certainly didn’t happen to me – they were notified well in advance and the communication was good. Just the ‘HAVE I PAID’ part needs to be ironed out!

    I made a booking of 4 Rooms for two nights at LANSDOWNE at Shanti Raj Resort through make my trip company with following booking id

    IN1209B20558 for 30 sept 2012 til 2 oct 2012 as per the instruction by your executive I made all the payment of Rs 16600 in advance booking was done by Asma Sirohi
    On 29 sept 2012 when I have already done all arrangements for travelling and everything I received a call from one your executive Prapti that my booking is not confirmed
    And she will be arranging an alternative hotel till evening after many follow ups I couldn’t got the confirmation then in night around 9:30 pm she told me that booking is confirmed in
    Gharwalli INN hotel I said ok
    After confirmation only I started for travel on reaching LANSDOWNE to my surprise there was no booking for me and my group I tried calling make my trip but nobody could assist me only one reply we will arrange a call back for you I had reached LANSDOWNE in morning around 8 30 and I received a call back from Prapti around 12 noon she said she is making some arrangement as there is some communication error and arrangement will be done in Gharwalli INN but as per the owner he had not received any payment from make my trip so he has already sold the rooms to somebody else around 2 o clock Prapti gave me an alternative hotel named Sadhbhavna Guest House which was 15 kms away from there and 10 kms away from the town I was so fed up that and not having any choice we proceeded towards Guest house on reaching there it was so shocking to see it was a pure Dharmshala type place bathrooms were filthy dirty even the beds were stinking we could not stand there for a minute and being the weekend there was no rooms available in the Lansdowne so we were left with no other choice rather than coming back to Delhi which was also advised by locals over there
    In our group we had 2 infants 4 children under 5yrs age and 8 adults everybody was so tired so stressed but no other option than coming back on the way back all of them were suffering from nosia most of them vomited everybody was suffering severe headache even the driver of the cab was also stressed that he had almost met with an accident but due the arrangement of make my trip we had no other option left rather than risking our life and coming back
    I had to spend rs 20000/- for Tempotraveller only for going to LANSDOWNE and coming back this is really serious matter I don’t understand how your company call themselves Travel specialist when you could not arrange one resort for me also I would demand my entire money and the expense I had spend on travelling and the apology letter

    I cancelled a airline reservation made through Makemytrip .com and the amount of crap they are feeding me for the refund makes my blood boil. I was scrolling through the Google search searching for some similar experiences , when I saw what you have gone through. It’s not the inconvenience , it’s not the money but their attitude which gets me.They deliberately block all access to their executives who sign their mails but they are never accessible on phone. Your refund order does not get processed for 15 days (as of now) and I really don’t know how long it’s actually going to take. Somebody needs to teach them a lesson.

    I ‘v been booking tickets with them for almost 5 years now to just realize I might have been ripped off ever since !

    I made a reservation with them a week ago and they guaranteed low fare saying within 7 days if I am able to find a lower fare for the same itinerary, they will return the difference.

    Their confidence level was so high that my inquiry for lower-fared search did not begin soon enough (my bad). Accidentally, I found a lower-priced itinerary and called them and they said your 7 days guarantee period is about to expire in 30 minutes so I just sent them an email quickly saying I will be sending “that” low-fared itinerary in separate email soon for them to verify (as calling the agent / getting the low-fared itinerary would certainly take more than 30 minutes, at least for me).

    Eventually I sent them them low-fared itinerary but they denied saying
    “I missed the 7-days mark ”

    The fare difference is ridiculously high, I feel doomed to mention that I could have saved $ 800 x 3 !

    No more makemytrip.com !

    I read some of the horrible experiences about MMT on this website. My experience is not that bad but I would like to highlight about their newly launched car rental service. I used this service ones for outstation travel within India and I feel that this is totally BAKWAAS service. I could have gotten a better value for money service from my neighborhood cab vendor. The problem with this service is:

    a: Makemytrip has no control/authority on cabs other then booking cab on your behalf and charging their commission. You have to deal with vendor/driver yourself. what’s the point of involving them then.

    b: There are many hidden costs and no visibility at all which I came to know later. Vendor charged me 40+ Km as part of their garage to garage service inspite of the fact that selected the location was closest to my home. they do not mention their vendor name so no way you can find out from where you will get a cab before booking.

    After using their service I felt that I was better off with my local vendor. I only went to them as their cost were competitive but I ended up paying more due to so many hidden factors.
    though my expenses were not so high I am really amazed to see that MMT has ruined many people’s very expensive holidays. I can only suggest you people to knock the door of consumer forum.

    Now I will think twice before doing any expensive bookings through this site

    Recently I booked a hotel through MMT Booking ID: NH210292136043 and was planning to book a family holiday package. Though rooms & services were not exactly as advertised or seen on website everything went ok. But after reading all the stuffs here I will be having second thought about making a booking through MMT next time around. Vishal its good that you have shared your experience and also let others do so. I feel I’ve escaped the trouble all others here had experience.     Today I got a call from MMT and they confirmed(after reviewing the phone conversation) me that their agent reserved a wrong flight. Yesterday they mentioned that if the mistake is on their side, they would make all the effort to correct it. Today I was told that since the price for the flight that I originally mentioned had gone up, they can cancel my ticket and refund my ticket price. If I had known this yesterday, I would have booked the tickets myself, price was low on Jet Airways web site. I asked them how much it would cost them to correct their mistake, the answer was just $60. Remember I made reservation for 12 tickets, total ticket price I paid was close to $1000. Seems like these guys are not ready to pay $60 to correct their mistake and make their customer happy. I don’t have time to continue this, I just paid another $45 to change the return flight time. Bottom line – In spite of spending 6 hours with these guys on the phone, I paid additional $200 for my trip. It again proves that these guys are horrible. These guys don’t know how to behave professionally and clearly not capable of running this business in a customer oriented way.

    Glad to see this site to share my experience. I’m stuck with these guys for last two days to resolve an issue. I’m an NRI living in USA, contacted MMT(as per friend’s recommendation ) to make a reservation for domestic flights. To make the story short – in spite of providing all the details correctly and spent 3 hours on phone with these guys, I finally got an email confirmation that included wrong time for the return flight after making my payment. Ok, mistakes happen, I called them to notify and correct them. Since today morning, I called 3 times and after explaining the details, they put me on hold for 20 to 30 minutes every time. At the end of every call, I was told that some body would call me in 20 minutes, but no one called me, I had to call them again and again, the response was “the person made the reservation is helping another customer, he would call you as soon as he’s done with the customer”. After 3 hours of wait, finally one girl told me that the person made my reservation gone for the day. Then the girl, gave me an option, “Don’t worry Sir!, we’ll help you. I can correct the return flight’s time, but you’ve to pay $180 per person( for Bangalore to Chennai flight on Jet Airways).”. I called Jet Airways, I asked for changing the flight time, they said $19 per person to change the timing.

    MMT did not make any attempt to talk to the guy who made my reservation to see why he did it wrong. Finally I was told that MMT would review the phone conversation and would call me in next 72 hours !. The worst part is- I’m willing to pay any reasonable price difference and correct the flight timing, but these guys are not ready to help. There’s no guarantee that I would get the tickets in the flight we want to go if I wait for 72 hours.

    I’ve made tons of airline reservations and worked with many travel agents and companies in the past, but never seen such a bad company like MMT.

    These guys do not have proper expertise to run this business, please stay away from these guys, don’t unnecessarily get it to truble, period.

However i now feel nervous given the number of dissatisfied customers of MMT. Thank you, for the eye opener. They did mess up 1 of my air bookings, but i thought it was a one-off case. Better cautious then sorry!

    I’d booked a couple of nights for my parents. Unfortunately needed to defer or cancel the stay the night before travel.

    When I called MMT the night before, they said I faced one night of cancellation charge – or could try in the morning to defer. I said I’d call back in the morning and hung up.

    I called back next morning at 8:30. The automated voice asked me to call back after 9:00. I did.

    The automated voice response system moved me around – the first time I got the Bus department. The second time I got another department. I’m educated, attentive, and I am sure did not make a mistake with the number prompts either time.

    The third time I called, I got through to the right department. Three different levels of officers first kept me on hold. Then refused to provide me even one night of refund.

    Great.

    MMT: You’ve lost just one additional customer. If you care.

    I too had a similar experience with make my trip earlier wherein they had charged me for a high category room while the actual room allocated to us was a sad one. though that was not that bad ann experience but after reading through your post I realise that it could have been worst.

    I had a very exciting experience just by making online hotel booking through MakeMyTrip.com, which I would like to share with you all.

    I booked 3 hotel rooms at Darjeeling – Booking Date: Sun, 08 Jul ’12, 00:06 hrs and I got the following message.
    “Kindly note, your booking is CONFIRMED and you are not required to contact the hotel or MakeMyTrip.com to reconfirm the same.”

    I called up hotel for some queries on 11 Jul ’12, 11:00 hrs, and I was informed that they have not received any reservation information from MakeMyTrip.

    Immediately I logged into my MakeMyTrip account and found my reservation has been promoted to WAITLISTED status, with the following details.
    ‘There have been some changes in your existing booking. We apologize for the inconvenience and request you to give us a call at our customer service number 1-800-102-8747 to enquire about latest booking status for your booking’

    Note: Till now I have not received any communication about this sudden reservation status change from MakeMyTrip through SMS / eMail / Phone.

    I called up MakeMyTrip customer care 10 times, was lucky enough to get through to an agent on 11 Jul ’12, 11:30 hrs, where they kept he on hold twice (5 minutes waiting time/hold), finally the agent mentioned their was some bla bla bla which she had no clue and I will receive a call within 45minutes from another agent.

    I did not receive any call, and I called them again on 11 Jul ’12, 19:00 hrs, this time the agent also mentioned that my booking will be confirmed and I will get a call within 40minutes.

    And you guessed right, I did not receive any call. Then on 12 Jul ’12, 12:00 hrs, another agent called me for a different purpose, feedback on my customer call experience. After hearing me out; she sounded so concerned and assured me that someone will be engaged to resolve my issue.

    Alas!! My reservation still stays waitlisted and MakeMyTrip only assures you that they are concerned when you call them up, and asks you this question –
    “In a scale of 0 to 10, 0 being the lowest, where will you rank MakeMyTrip about your experience and recommend others to avail MakeMyTrip services?” :-)

    we had similar one, though i used them few times, this one was exception. We booked in Vythiri (wayanad) in some resots 9dont remember), when we reached the hotel said there is no booking1. when i called the guys at makemytrip, they did some phone jugglery and after couple of hours they gave us room. what we had booked was some kind of premium rooms and paid accordingly, but what we got was ordinary ones! we just managed.

    what is point of attention here, is makemytrip never accepted that we lost money due to downgraded room,apart from major inconvenience, and never made god for anything!

    The 7 people all above 50yrs age checked-in the hotel on 14th June’12.
    Their First day, Hotel Delhi Continental Managers, Mr Ajeet and Mr Abhishek Kumar requested them to shift to another property, Hindustan Continental temporarily till 12pm. They don’t want to create the issue and spoil the morning, so they agreed since it was only for few hours. But they never knew before moving into the rooms that it was in pathetic condition. Room was small, No AC, No Water, Broken toilets and flush, etc, moreover they were told to adjust in those small room which were too too small for 7ppl to accommodate.
    These 7 guys had plans for whole day and they arrived to the booked place, Hotel Delhi Continental, at 12, but they were told the rooms were not available. In the evening they returned back, they again visited the booked place again, i.e., Delhi Continental, but the booked rooms were still not available. The manager, Mr Abhishek Kumar, asked them to adjust for the night and come next day as he did not have rooms vacant!!!
    Now this is something very very unexpected. They had to spend the whole 1 day in pathetic small rooms with no ac under 46 degrees. And now they were asked to spend a night there.
    Here I question the terms and conditions of MakeMyTrip, which clearly and loudly says that “you get what you see and if you don’t get what you see in pictures you can claim your money back”.
    And wait the story is not finished yet.. Still these 7 old aged people could not get what they deserved and what I booked for them.
    The Second day, after an awful night, these guys went to the hotel staff asking for their booked 2 triple bed room deluxe. Here Mr Abhishek K Pandey, started arguing with them that they were supposed to stay in Hotel Hindustan Continental for the whole of the duration i.e. till 17th June!!! He misbehaved with elderlies and told them there were no available rooms and that they have to leave their luggage out in the reception corridor.
    But here in the booking invoice, it is clearly mentioned “Hotel Delhi Continental” and the Booking is Confirmed and Reconfirmed. Then why in the holy world they should stay in those pathetic small cabinets and that too for the whole duration of their stay in Delhi!!!!!!!!!!???
    Who is responsible for this mess!?
    >HOTEL DELHI CONTINENTAL, or
    >HOTEL HINDUSTAN CONTINENTAL, or
    > MAKE MY TRIP!!??
    For me all 3 entities are blamable. But I must throw the biggest blame on MAKEMYTRIP, because it is the one who claims “you will get what you see and if you don’t get what you see in pictures you can claim your money back”. And in this case “WE ARE NOT GETTING THE SAME HOTEL WHAT WE BOOKED FOR US” now what do your terms and conditions says on this!?? A room, number of beds in the room, bathrooms aren’t they the basic amenities in a hotel !!??
    At this point of time I contacted MakeMyTrip Customer Care Service, and told them the whole story. MakeMyTrip executives told us that they will immediately get in touch with Hotel authorities and get the thing sought out asap.
    At this, Mr Abhishek Kumar, Manager of Delhi Continental, relented to arranging one room!!! He dumped all the luggage in that room and told these guys that they would get rooms when the return from their outing.
    When they returned in evening, they found that they were given 2 double bedrooms by the manager, but the booking was for 2 triple bedrooms!!! Even the rooms were swampy with improper lighting and very bad condition of facilities again. They were tired and disappointed. They could just ask the manager of the worst arrangement, but manager doesn’t responded properly.
    The next morning day third, on 16th june, they again asked with the manager about the mismatch in booking done and allotted rooms. The manager asked them to adjust as the rooms were full!!! And again and again we also got in touch with MakeMyTrip to seek their help, but could got any appreciative help from any entity.
    In the evening, 16th june, a couple of my cousins visited the Delhi Continental. From them I could get the facilities photos. Please have a look at the attached photos.
    I can claim the picture shown on website completely mismatches the picture taken in our camera. The pictures on the website shows spacious rooms with 1 double bed and 1 single bed in the room, wherever, the picture which we took shows a very small room with only 1 double bed with 3 pillows(as done by hotel staff to make 3adults adjust on the same bed) and no single bed. The two side of bed is completely attached to wall, meaning no space between bed and wall. The bathrooms were awful.. Note that these pictures are only of the rooms at Hotel Delhi continental, which we actually booked.
    The whole thing happened was very disappointing and raises a number of questions on MakeMyTrip Services.
    The pour fellows checked out on 17th early morning and after that I have been calling up makemytrip to register a moneyback request.
    I spoke to makemytrip multiple times after this and each time I was assured that the refund is in process and that I would get a callback.
    Was shocked when I spoke to Manpreet and Pratik (again I had to call no callback arranged)
    Later I was informed that someone named Tilak Raj is working on my refund request.
    Please let me know at the earliest when would the refund be made, else tell me whom else I should contact for complaining against makemytrip and the hotels?

    talk about experiences with makemy trip(booking ID NH261291920998). I booked hotel(houseboat) and flights to srinagar through mmt and guess what on landing in srinagar and contacting the phone nos provided the delilah group they 1st said that checkin time is 1hr 30 min later so I said okay i’ll wait at your office.(or atleast leave my luggage there)……they not only refused to share the office address told me to call back in evening and go sightseeing somewhere. When I asked them what should I do with the luggage the rude guy at the other end said I don’t give a damn!…….. on repeatedly calling made atleast 16 calls kept getting disconnected they later denied that I had any booking there . Me I walk to the nearest police station and later tourism police the police guys (SHO) nicest lot of people I have ever met ………………….come along with me , locate the office and the houseboats owners are still screaming at me infront of police! ……………….finally at the end of it I simply refuse to follow this up any further, leave a writen complaint with the police and call up make my trip for the nth time……………..they offer to refund my money and give me alternate accomodation(thankfully ,thanks to a helpful operator in mmt). I get alternative booking for 1 night as opposed to the 2 that I have paid for somewhere about 5 km away and have to run around looking for accomodation for the next day as noone from MMT bothers to return the call or respond. Guess what I am still awaiting the refund one month from my date of journey………………….after this horrible holiday experience and multiple calls to make my trip……………..I honestly thingk they should revoke their ad ……………THEY DO NOT BELIEVE IN REFUNDING THE MONEY

    MMT has been the worst when it comes to service. Out of my 3 times of doing business, I have had bad experience for 2 times and I have decided not to do any business with them anymore.

    I booked for sterling resorts yercaud through MMT and when i reached the resort there was no room ready and after fighting with resort I finally got the worst room available. MMT did not help me from beggining to end inspite of repeated calls for help. After coming back when I said I would take them to consumer court, they agreed to refund me half the money through vouchers which i can use for my next booking.

    In second incidence, I booked Amazing Ladakh package for my parents and this time they didnt send me invoice after payment and when i called their customer care, it repeadtely got disconnect or I got rude replies or fake promises saying they will ask the person who has made my booking to call me back. They are not even ready to send my flight tickets 3-4 days before trip date or help my parents get it from some person in Delhi. Customer care person are very rude and say its none of their headache. Very unfriendly and not helpful attitude of theirs has made me decide not to do business with them ever again.

    Make my trip – Himachal Tour review – WORST SERVICE, POOR PROFESSIONALISM

    Hi all,

    Before I start writing my experience, if some one of you have just logged in to check whether it’s worth going ahead to book Makemytrip’s Himachal Tour, just by seeing one experienced person’s comments and blindly decide to ‘go’ or ‘not to go’, I will say only one thing. ‘Don’t go’, with Makemytrip. People with more patience can continue reading.

    I booked my vacation to HP thr’ makemytrip, for my family of four, despite going through several bad reviews on various websites including this one. I thought may be those were one off experiences and this may not happen to me. But towards the end it looked like MMT has made up it as their custom to inconvenience all their customers without leaving any one. I will be unfair to say that most of their services could be this way as I’ve tried only HP tour, but looking at the treatment meted out to me, I could guess that MMT is also like one of those numerous ‘faceless’ organizations where everything has to go thr’ procedure and more often than none, professionalism comes outside the set procedures. I don’t want to kill your time by being too much philosophical here and will brief about my bad experiences below. Pls note that words are never enough to explain the trauma one goes through that too on a vacation!! Which we want to have for the very reason of having enough trauma during work days anyway.

    1. All the while this executive Rajendra Negi was harping on full payment and I had delayed it purposefully because I was not sure of my trip. Within 10 days, the rates had gone up by 10k (from 75k to 85k) and the reason given was hike in the airfares. I didn’t have any past reference to check what he was saying was true. So without second chance as it was already too late to look for something else, I had to pay full amount of Rs 85k. first suspecion on their operation.
    2. I had categorically specified during my chat and phone calls to Rajendra Negi that I needed a sedan car and not a hatch back one. Despite his verbal confirmation to give me an Indigo and not Indica, this person sends me a ca voucher for Indica. I called him again and threatened him that I will escalate this issue then he sends me a ‘modified’ voucher for Indigo which later turned out to be a fake one. On my arrival at Delhi from where we were supposed to leave for Shimla, I found out that I was given a lousy Indica which was stinking, no AC working and almost about to break down. I called up the cab servie people to upgrade me with Indigo and those courteous people (Holiday Himachal) sent me an Indigo with very friendly dirver for 7 days. But later I had to pay Rs 2200 extra for using Indigo as they had received only Indica’s voucher and not Indigo’s. I had contacted Rajendra Negi on the previous day who told me will call me in 2 minutes but NEVER RESPONDED TO MY NUMEROUS CALLS FOR NEXT 7 DAYS!! Such a professional he is.
    3. As you can imagine good amount is involved, I insisted that they book 3 star and above hotels for me and my family. I even mentioned that if some extra amount has to be paid only to make sure I get good hotels, I was ready. He confirmed to me that all are 3 star and above category hotels. What I found in Manali, Chandigarh were below standard hotels, forget budget hotels. (Hilltone resorts at Manali, City plaza 7 at Chandigarh) Only exception was hotel at Shimla – Fairmont. It was slightly better than the above. Hilltone Resorts – it was being renovated and the rooms were stinking, puris in breakfast had hair in them, curds was black in color, yuck! Hellish experience there. They didn’t forget to charge us for the heaters used for such chilly nights when it was their duty to provide us with them.
    4. I was made to pay service tax in the hotels I had stayed which was never mentioned anywhere in my voucher or hotels’ vouchers. When I called up a faceless executive again, I was lectured on I should have read ‘terms and conditions’ to find out that clause was there. All this while Rajendra Negi had insisted that my trip was ‘all inclusive’
    5. I did not even receive an invoice from them. I had to call the toll free number approximately 20 times to get connected and explain them this. Their numbers promptly used to get disconnected when I was right about to hear their response.
    6. The feedback section in their website never works.
    7. No matter how many times you call, you will always speak to some junior executives and their bosses are never available to escalate any issues. You will be sick and tired of the standard answers they give like ‘we really apologise for the inconvenience caused to you’ and all that blah blah, thus further inconveniencing with such meaningless apologies.
    8. If you think you can ‘make your trip’ with MMT, expecting some good star hotels, with your enhanced lifestyle and all, forget it. Sorry to say, this is for the people who have never stayed in hotels before and who have not seen better hotels. I met several customers of MMT during my trip and found none to be satisfied with them.
    9. Unfortunately, as said above, I can not write all the bad experiences I had each time I had to call them for the hotels, for the cab vouchers, for invoices etc, in words. But if you ask me next time would I consider MMT for my vacation? NO!!!

    Make My Trip – Unlimited moemories – spoiled my trip and gave me unlimited bad memories that I would like to forget.

    Date of travel – from may 8th till may 15th 2012.

    I had a very bad experience with makemytrip. I have done a booking, booking ref below NH2P10422019165 and this was confirmed booking. Yesterday I received a call that your booking is cancelled as hotel is already full. So I had to cancel my booking. This is very wrong if you do not have inventory you should not book it confirmed. I have already booked my train tickets and cab etc. I was a permanent customer of makemytrip but seeing this I will not be doing any further transactions with makemytrip and will not also recommend to anyone.

    Also, my status of the booking was still showing confirmed and noone cam eback to me again as told to me that I will be given some other option. So I was forced to cancel my booking.

    I had a similar experience with make my trip. I have booked a hotel in thirupati for a one night stay and had instantly received a confirmation. But I did the wise thing. I called the hotel to check if the booking is confirmed and Not to my surprise the booking was never there.

    I had called the call center of MMT and had a difficult time getting them on line. But after I got through MMT people have ensured that they accomodated me in a different hotel of the same category

    I work in an IT Co. and being a tech savvy person myself,I wd like to tell u all….

    1. Whenever I make a booking I always confirm by calling the hotel before reaching there. I hv booked with makemytrip many times and once for a hotel in Chennai the hotel hadn’t received the confirmation….So I called the call centre no. then and there and they instantly confirmed it.

    2.If u r booking thru a website for the 1st time,make sure u read reviews beforehand.

    3.As far as I know,holiday packages never live upto the expectation. I hv read reviews,even the famous travel agents like SOTC and Thomas Cook also might not give u what they promised…u might end up getting a std room instead of a dlx room,3star hotel instead of 4star and so on….So whenever I go for holiday,I book the tickets and hotel separately and plan the itinerary after reaching the place.

    4.Go for cashback offers,only if it is a reliable site(check the reviews)….The cash may not come back for some sites.

    5.If u r taking any discounted flight deal coupon,call the helpline before buying to:
    1.Check if support wl be available if the coupon doesnt work
    2.Ask where the coupon code is to be entered,how much time it wl take for the coupon to come to you.

    6.For amending flight schedule,call the airline directly,all airline do rescheduling directly…you can directly pay the amt in the airline website under manage booking.

    7.If at all u hv a problem that is not being solved(e.g. refund not coming),post it in facebook..many companies are taking facebook posts seriously as everyone can view it.Find in the facebook page,the email or facebook id of manager level people. Sometimes,call centre executives dont approach higher authorities immdtly when they r unable to solve the problem themselves.

    I dont want to give advice but If u keep these things in mind,there is little chance of ur trip being RUINED !!

    N.B. : I found the title “ruinedmytrip.com ” really hilarious,so I went on to write this long story!

        I really appreciate your effort. You are doing a great job. This is not only about travelling, but we common people suffer from so many other problems like this. This is an effort against all those sufferings.

        Coming to the comment by Mr. Rohit, you will find millions of people who will come and give advice even if they are not asked to do. I request you not to get discouraged by such”FREE KA GYAN people”.

        The step which you have taken is worth spending a few thousand rupees every year. We spend thousands of rupees when we go for shopping, movies, travelling. Spending some money on something good like this is really appreciable, every one (like those who criticize) can’t do it. So keep up………….

    My name is Sachin K from Mumbai, I booked a honeymoon package in December 2011 for my tour from 15Feb – 21st Feb for Nanital -Kausani – Corbett. As soon as my package started, troubles followed us. We reached Nanital on the 15th Feb, as per our brochure we had candle light dinner and cake on arrival at Nanital, candle light dinner and flower decoration at Kausani. However we were horrified when we were told that the hotel does not have any instructions nor has makemytrip.com paid them for the services and the hotel stay. By the way the hotels we stayed were from the chain Suman Resorts in all 3 places we went.
    When we contacted makemytrip.com, we told them about the arrangements and also that the hotel has not been paid for our stay, it took them 5 calls and various transfer to understand my concern while I was on roaming network as I am from Mumbai. Finally the reply I got and it was a shocking one, they asked me to pay for the services and they would refund the money, which I did as I did not wish to spoil my honeymoon for them.
    The scariest part begins, we spoke to the resort in Kausani from our Nanital hotel, if our bookings were confirmed, we are told it is confirmed, so we drove to Kausani which is almost 5-6 hours and when we reached we were made to wait in the lobby as no rooms were booked for us and the Manager simply denied as MMT had not paid them as well. After speaking with MMT Executive and their finance head in Delhi, the hotel allowed us to stay, by now my patients had given up as they had spoiled my honeymoon. Upon reaching Mumbai I send MMT the vouchers and my phone bill which they promptly paid.
    I shall never ever in my life book anything from MMT and would also request everyone, not to fall for their false and lucrative offers.

        Yes, MMT paid me in 10 days after I submitted the scan documents. I felt like there is only one executive “Pallavi Patil” from Mumbai office, who is doing her job well, the rest are just trying their best to fool people and make money.

    I booked online my Ticket and Hotel over Make My trip.com. My Booking ID: NP2523717547168. I had booked a early morning departure to Nagpur for 21st April and I was not in the position to take the flight due to some business meeting. I called Customer services to amend my booking to afternoon flight. What I went through was not very professional and very untrained “Customer Care” from Make My Trip.
    On 14th April 2012 21:17 got my confirmation of my Flight & Hotel Booking
    On 15th April Got message that I had to attend a business meeting on my scheduled day of flight.
    On 15th April called the “Customer Care” 1st attempt at 20:29, got through, I had to give my Booking Number and verify my name. After the verification, I told the gentleman about my Change Of Plans and I had to postpone my flight to take a afternoon flight. The phone gets cut off and no one bothers to call me back.

    On 15 April, 2nd attempt: Called Customer Care at 20:36 get connected to other team member. Verify my Booking Number and my personal details. Well the team member informs me that he can not do anything as I have a Flight and hotel Booking. I get passed onto another team member after being put on hold. Verify my Credentials again. I had to explain again the whole story and I wanted to get my early morning flight postponed to afternoon flight. I am then told to call the airline directly to change the flight. I explained to him that my early morning flight was by Spice jet and afternoon flight would be by Indigo, i can not call spice jet to cancel their flight and book me a indigo flight.
    I have booked the whole arrangement over Make My Trip and there are still 6 days left to fly. I insisted that Make My Trip should change my flight and I am ready to pay for any cancellation fees. he put me on hold again. Then I was told that there was a problem with the server, he will make sure that someone will get to me in the morning of 16th April. I requested him for a Call Reference Number. he could not provide me with one as he said that he has entered all the details on the system.
    I did not get any call from Customer Care on 16th April throughout the day, I decided to call them once more at 21:12 hours. A gentleman picked up the phone, went through the same procedure of verification. Team member would not believe that my reservation number started with NP and not with NF, till the time he realized that it was Flight + Hotel booking. Well I was told to wait again and I was forwarded to another team member. She was very professional as compared to the team member before. She listened to my requirements and I informed her about my request from yesterday and I have not received any call today from Customer Care. She apologized about it. I requested her to change my early morning flight to afternoon flight. I was put on hold again.
    I was then told the same story that they had a problem with the system and some is going to call me back in next 24 hours. I was not ready to accept that as I had waited over 24 hours already. If I had to wait for other 24 hours the ticket rates would take a hike again.

    I told her to cancel my flights as I would rather book my flights and hotel arrangement though yatra or any other online travel agent. To my surprise, my ticket was cancelled without any problem. How is that possible if the systems were down?
    She could have cancelled one way ticket and booked afternoon ticket for me!!!!!!!

    One thing is for sure, I have got unlimited memories, as advertised by Make My trip and I would prefer to have a dementia about the whole experience.
    I will bring them more customers, if they could spend more money in Customer Care training than wasting it on expensive TV ads.

    I have read all client’s review here.
    My questions is for these low quality services the clients are same responsible as the travel agents. Reason now a days clients are asking for “DEAL” they not read in that prices what are the services are included in that prices and they only want to see the DISCOUNT in Percentage never calculate the nett amount to be paid.
    Recently you can see a advertisement in TV by salman Khan that “If you book air ticket from yatra you can avail up to 50% discount”. Why they do not tell the nett amount to be paid? The reason if they tell the nett amount yo can easily catch them.

    Another guest has wrote in your forum that he has paid twice the original amount that also wrong though i do not know who was his agent? But it is fact that if any client booked directly the hotels and transporters etc definitely he will get problem unless he do not book well in advance. Hotel booking in advance is ok but what about the other services????

    1. Being a admin of this website you should forward the client’s complain to the respective travel agent for his clarifications. Because sometimes client’s are creating problems for us. as a example recently one of our client has send a booking request for 2 rooms for kashmir package as they are 4 adults and 3 small child less than 5 yrs. We never mate face to face. But when the client arrive to hotel, hotel were claiming all 3 childrens are more than 12 yrs!!!!! And client was trying to convince the hotels that they have paid for all to us??? When one of our local representative has produce the print out of the confirmation where we written 3 childrens are les than 5 yrs then only he agreed to pay extra. Now the question is if this client is putting some complain over Internet what is the validity of the complain???

    2. Being a travel agent we practice to confirm the hotels after receiving the 50% advance and then only we send the confirmation of the hotels along with their confirmation number (after making some advance payment) so that anyone can check from the Hotel directly at any time.

    3. Being a travel agent what rate we offer that you cannot avail directly from the service providers.

    I hope all these are ok.

      Forwarding the complaints to respective companies will involve a lot of time and energy for me and it’s really not feasible. However, the respective companies can always come here and clarify their stand here.

      Now the question is if this client is putting some complain over Internet what is the validity of the complain???

      I totally agree with you Mr. Kanak, that’s why I insist people on putting full details like booking ID, etc. while posting here so that complaints are genuine.
